A Study On The Story Expression Of Character Documentary

Since the new century,the story expression of character documentary has become one of the important topics in documentary creation.As an important part of documentary,character documentary has undergone a series of changes from the original "looking up" subject to the current "looking up" subject,from presenting "flat" character images to shaping "round" character images,from displaying traditional grand narrative to focusing on the fate and development of small people.They tend to present multi-types,multi-angles and diversified creations,reflecting a more open and comprehensive social outlook.This paper takes the story-oriented creation of character documentary as the starting point,and explores the story-oriented expression strategy of character documentary from various aspects.It mainly discusses from the following parts:Chapter one makes a theoretical overview on the definition and development of character documentary,the main classification of character documentary and the story-oriented connotation of character documentary;The second chapter mainly discusses the multi-dimensional story construction of character documentary,which mainly focuses on three aspects: "finding" stories-typification of topic selection,"listening" stories-mining story points,and "designing" stories-visualization;The third chapter mainly discusses the narrative methods of character documentary,including character image building,story construction and audio-visual language presentation;In the last chapter,the author expounds the story creation of the graduation work "Under the Same Blue Sky",including the reflection and inspiration of the shooting works and the creation summary.The graduation work Under the Blue Sky focuses on Gansu Blue Sky Rescue Team,a public welfare rescue organization.By briefly introducing the basic situation of the public welfare rescue organization and photographing specific events,including the daily training of rescue team members,water drills and real rescue site situations,it shows the youth spirit,youth strength and youth responsibility displayed by the current youth group in the development of the new era.The whole film presents a documentary rich in story and visibility through preliminary conception,mid-stage shooting and post-production.
