| Since the new century,changes in the field of science and technology have led to a continuous acceleration of the process of information globalization.As an important tool for national political,economic and cultural propaganda,movies objectively play a role in international mutual exchange and deeper understanding among peoples.In the context of the era of strong sports nation,the rapid development of sports in China has laid the foundation for the flourishing development of sports films,but there are still problems of slow development of sports films and uneven levels of content output,and there is still a gap between them and the Indian sports film industry in terms of content production and foreign export experience.This study explores the content of sports films in depth and analyzes the image building of athletes in order to study the development characteristics and unique advantages of Chinese and Indian sports films.Through combing Chinese sports films and Indian sports films since the new century,the study compares the portrayal of athletes in classic films,analyzes the commonalities and differences in the portrayal of athletes in Chinese and Indian sports films,and understands the cultural connotations behind the characters’ images,with a view to achieving cultural exchange and mutual appreciation and enriching the research on the content of Chinese and foreign sports films.This study investigates the portrayal of athletes in Chinese and Indian sports films in the context of the new century through the research methods of literature,comparative research and case study,and draws the following conclusions:First,there are certain commonalities in the portrayal of athletes in Chinese and Indian sports films,which are manifested in the similarity in the typical division of image types,the use of human narrative and linear structure of cause-and-effect correlation in the construction of image narratives,the diversified audiovisual language expressions in the deepening of images,and the emphasis on mainstream values and realistic dilemmas in the national connotation output of image symbols.Secondly,there are certain differences in the portrayal of athletes in Chinese and Indian sports films,which are manifested in the differences in image tasks caused by the social environment of gender status,the differences in subject matter preferences brought about by the growth of sports activities,the differences in character perspectives provided by mainstream culture,the differences in image growth backgrounds brought about by the customs of the times,and the differences in creative environments brought about by local policies.Thirdly,through the comparison of the image shaping of athletes in Chinese and Indian sports films,the common inspiration for the development of sports films in both countries is specifically expressed as follows: insisting on the prerequisite of elaborate martial arts scenes,the hard core of sports genre films is still reflected in the performance of professional technical shots.Spiritual culture is the base,and the output of film and television content is still based on the elevation of spiritual and cultural values.The design of the drama is a powerful tool,and the dialogue design that is close to life and real is the key to the audience’s visual entry and empathy.Genre integration is the trend,the content of the film needs to show the deeper intention while combining literature and martial arts,and it is possible to maximize the value of the content by absorbing more audiences through genre integration. |
