Belief,Legend And Ritual

This paper takes the field point of Xinping Village of Tibetan Town of Xinchengzi in Tanchang County as the research object of the annual July Festival held in this village during the seventh lunar month.Making use of cultural diversity as the main research point,this paper makes an investigation and study of the three elements of faith,legend and ritual in this folk event using relevant knowledge of folklore,ethnology,folk literature and Anthropology.The purpose is to make a complete record of this folk custom,and analyze the cultural psychology of Tibetan ethnic group in Xinping Village contained in this folk custom from multiple perspectives,and demonstrate how this folk custom has become a bridge and platform for cultural integration and sharing between local Han and Tibetan people,so as to achieve the purpose of protecting cultural diversity on this basis.The first chapter of this paper introduces the administrative divisions of Tanchang County as well as its physical geography and history and culture as well as the ethnic group of this study in Xinping Village of Tanchang County.This chapter deals with the outline of the field point and the analysis of the origin of the Tibetan ethnic group in the field point.The second chapter mainly discusses the connotation of the belief of the Dragon God in the July Festival and why it is accepted by the Tibetans in Xinping Village.The third chapter focuses on the local legend of the Chisha Dragon King.This legend explains the origin of the local belief in the Chisha Dragon King,and is closely related to the rituals of the July Festival in Xinping Village.Chapter four makes a detailed record of the whole ceremony of the July Festival of Xinping Village in Tanchang County in 2022.The author divides it into three parts: "The Preparation for the Dragon God--the Dragon God Tour--the Vow Making Ceremony".At this point,Xinping Village,which is composed of beliefs,legends and rituals,will be fully presented in July Festival.The fifth chapter mainly describes the social function of Xinping Village July Festival.For Tibetans in Xinping village,the July Festival not only has the function of spiritual consolation,but also has the function of ethnic cohesion.At the same time,the July Festival,with the worship of the dragon King as the core,has also become a platform for ethnic interaction between Tibetans in Xinping Village and surrounding Han ethnic group.
