Since the implementation of China’s reform and opening up policy in 1978,the form and language style of Miao-themed Gongbi figure painting has realized the transformation from "unitary" to "pluralistic" prosperity,which is the result of the joint action of social politics,economy,culture,ideology and history.Based on the background of the reform and opening up,this paper takes the Miao-themed Gongbi character painting since the reform and opening up as the research object,takes the award-winning works as an example,and uses literature research,case analysis,image analysis,fieldwork and other research methods to try to analyze the Miao-themed Gongbi character painting,so as to better promote the development of Miao-themed Gongbi character painting.This paper divides the Miao-themed Gongbi figure painting into three main time stages since the reform and opening up,and analyzes the Miao-themed Gongbi figure painting from 1978 to 1989,which is in its infancy,mainly expressing the simple and natural life state of the Miao people.From 1990 to 1999,under the background of the literary and artistic policy of "main theme and diversification",Miao-themed character painting entered the development stage.From 2000 to 2022,under the cosmopolitan cultural background of "harmony but difference",Miao-themed character painting showed a diversified development trend.Through the analysis of Miao-themed Gongbi character paintings since the reform and opening up,this paper reveals the overall pattern,style and appearance,development form and value of Miao-themed Gongbi character paintings since the reform and opening up,and believes that creators engaged in Miao-themed Gongbi character paintings need to combine the background and characteristics of the times to conduct field investigations to truly reflect and record the times.
