With the improvement and development of China’s comprehensive strength,more and more foreign students come to China to study,which is not only for studying abroad but also for cultural exchange.Therefore,in the new environment of China,they are faced with the problem of cross-cultural communication.This means that they not only need to adapt to the Chinese environment,but also urgently need to solve specific problems in their study and life.For this reason,domestic colleges and universities have developed corresponding guidebooks for foreign students and set up Chinese teaching courses,but there are still some deviations in the actual use and learning process of foreign students.Therefore,taking Jiangsu University as an example,this paper investigates and analyzes the overall characteristics,daily life and learning of foreign students in Jiangsu University,and designs a guide manual that can meet the actual needs of foreign students in Jiangsu University.Taking the guide manual for foreign students of Jiangsu University as the actual design object,first of all,we collect samples from the existing guide manuals of relevant colleges and universities,and sort out the key information commonly found in the guide manual and the characteristics in the design arrangement.and focus on the analysis of the content and form of the existing guide manual for foreign students in Jiangsu University,and found that it has problems and deficiencies.The purpose of this paper is to improve and supplement the design of the life and study guide manual for foreign students in Jiangsu University.Secondly,taking the foreign students of the School of overseas Education of Jiangsu University as the survey object,through questionnaires and on-the-spot interviews,analyze their overall characteristics,specific difficulties encountered in daily life and study,and further clarify the corresponding needs of foreign students.Finally,integrating the suggestions of foreign students,Chinese teachers and relevant experts,starting from the following five aspects: carrying the concept of service management for foreign students in Jiangsu University,combining the Chinese learning needs of foreign students,integrating into the daily life problems of foreign students,strengthening the campus characteristics of Jiangsu University,and spreading local regional culture,this paper puts forward the design ideas for the Guide to the Life and Learning of Foreign students of Jiangsu University.On the basis of previous investigation and analysis of design ideas,the manual is systematically arranged and planned.The design practice is mainly carried out from seven chapters: enrollment process,living in Jiangsu University,learning in Jiangsu University,eating in Jiangsu University,walking in Jiangsu University,wearing in Jiangsu University,enjoying Jiangsu University,and about Zhenjiang.It integrates HSK1-2 Chinese vocabulary and short dialogue,and expresses the specific design content through scene reproduction and flattening icons.In addition,the related derivatives in the freshman gift bag are designed in order to enable foreign students to accept the relevant information of study,life and culture as much as possible in the fresh period of cultural adaptation.
