From the perspective of western hermeneutics,we can find that there is considerable commonality between Zhang Xuecheng’s thought of literary and historical proofreading.Zhang Xuecheng established a "new Taoist theory" different from his predecessors from the perspective of historiography. The highest goal of his literary and historical proofreading is to understand and interpret the Tao behind history, and thus constructed his hermeneutic philosophy. To interpret Zhang Xuecheng from a new perspective of hermeneutics is because Zhang Xuecheng’s hermeneutic thoughts are interlinked with Heidegger’s and Gadamer’s ontological hermeneutic thoughts.Judging from the history of China’s hermeneutic thought,Dai Zhen’s hermeneutic thought had entered the philosophical level during the period of Ganjia, while Zhang Xuecheng realized the ontological interpretation thought.Based on this,we think that Zhang Xuecheng’s hermeneutic philosophy should have a place in China’s hermeneutic thought, and it also has a certain position in comparison with western hermeneutics. Therefore, this paper focuses on exploring and sorting out Zhang Xuecheng’s hermeneutic philosophy from two aspects: ontology interpretation and text interpretation, and analyzes his concrete proposition of hermeneutic philosophy and its position in Chinese and western hermeneutic thoughts.Zhang Xuecheng formed a unique way to interpret "Tao" and the text in the process of constructing the theory of literary and historical proofreading. He emphasized the fusion of the horizon of the subject and the object of interpretation and the subjectivity of the interpreter in the process of interpretation, and formed his unique interpretation philosoply.
