| When Chinese language learners reach an advanced level, they have strong oral expression abilities and can proficiently use Chinese for oral communication in real communication environments. However, there is still a certain gap in their oral expression compared to native Chinese speakers, and their written expression level is even more disconnected from their oral level, resulting in the embarrassment of being able to speak but not write. Therefore, learners need to grasp the developmental laws and connotations of Chinese at a deeper level,as well as understand the speaking and writing habits of native Chinese speakers,so that they can truly reach the level of native Chinese speakers.Prepositions are an important category of function words in modern Chinese, and although the number of prepositions in Chinese is not large, their usage is complex and used frequently. For Chinese language learners, the study of Chinese prepositions is not an easy task.Informal Talks and Qipa Shuo are both well-known new-style debate programs, and the guests are mainly advanced level Chinese language learners and native Chinese speakers respectively.Based on the language materials from these two programs, this thesis establishes the Informal Talks and Qipa Shuo corpora, and conducts a comparative study of preposition usage between advanced level Chinese language learners and native Chinese speakers. The thesis is divided into 8 chapters:Chapter 1 is the introduction.Firstly, the research background and significance of this article are introduced, and the reasons for the selection and source of the corpus are explained.Secondly, the research content, method, and key points of this article are introduced, and a brief overview of existing preposition research is provided. Finally, based on previous preposition research, the definition and classification of prepositions in this article are explained and presented.Chapter 2 describes the classification of preposition usage in Informal Talks.Based on the corpus of Informal Talks, this chapter provides a classification description of the overall and specific usage of prepositions by advanced level Chinese language learners.Chapter 3 is an analysis of errors in the use of prepositions in Informal Talks.Based on the usage of prepositions by advanced level Chinese language learners, this chapter conducts an analysis of errors in the corpus, categorizing them into six types:redundancy of sentence components, missing components, improper word order, incorrect preposition usage, incorrect collocations, and compound errors.Chapter 4 is a classification description of the use of prepositions in Qipa Shuo.Based on the corpus of Qipa Shuo, this chapter provides a classification description of the overall usage and specific usage of prepositions by native Chinese speakers.Chapter 5 presents a comparative analysis of the use of prepositions in Informal Talks and Qipa Shuo. The study compares the frequency and type of prepositions used and the type of prepositional phrases.According to the analysis, there are 18 prepositions that have a gap in the use of prepositions between advanced level Chinese learners and native Chinese speakers, and 19 prepositions that are not used. The greatest difference in preposition use was observed in the object range category, while the smallest difference was observed in the purpose category. The direction and location category had the most prepositions not used by learners, while the manner and purpose categories had the least.Chapter 6 analyzes the reasons for the difference in preposition use between advanced level Chinese learners and native Chinese speakers. The study identifies four reasons, including intra-lingual negative transfer, native language negative transfer, lack of knowledge of Chinese prepositions, and influence of formal written Chinese.Chapter 7 provides recommendations for Chinese preposition teaching based on the reasons for the difference in preposition use.The study recommends strengthening the teaching of formal written Chinese prepositions, comparative preposition teaching, and frame preposition teaching.Chapter 8 concludes the study by summarizing the main findings and limitations of the study. |
