| This is a report on the translation of Protecting the Rights of Women Migrant Domestic Workers,of which Chapter 5 “Pre-departure: protected or put in harmful way” is the source text.This chapter focused on the status and plight of women domestic workers in Sri Lanka and the Philippines,as well as the legal frameworks,institutions,policies and practices for women migrant domestic workers in both countries,ultimately revealing structural violence constituted by the inaction of both governments.The source text is an informative text,which emphasizes the practicality of the content and the rigorous and logical use of words.The translator chooses Skopos theory as the theoretical guidance to facilitate the translation practice.This report is divided into five parts: Part One is the translation project description,including project background,significance and translation process.Part Two is the content of the source text,including main contents and linguistic features.Part Three is introduction to the theoretical framework,including the main idea of Skopos theory and the adaptability of it to source text.Part Four is the translation difficulties and methods including conversion and reversion,etc.Part Five concludes with the lessons and unsolved problems in the translation. |
