Research On Development Of European Agricultural Ethics

Modern agriculture is facing many ethical dilemmas.Agricultural ethics has achieved remarkable theoretical results in dealing with the relationship between man and nature,environment and agriculture,and plays a significant role in promoting the sustainable development of agriculture.The problems of global warming,deterioration of the ecological environment,loss of biodiversity and the risks of the globalization of the food system caused by the modernization of agriculture in Europe are not enough to rely on science to explore solutions.New ideas on rational norms urgently need to be discussed to guide agricultural practice.Especially in recent years,the wide use of biotechnology,its extensive international network,huge economic investment and risk uncertainty have complicated the agricultural problem.Based on the need of realistic decision-making,agricultural ethics came into being in Europe in the 1990 s.Through literature analysis,comparative analysis and interviews with experts in the field of European agricultural ethics,the research contents,contributions and development characteristics of the three stages of the rise,development and prosperity of European agricultural ethics are combed and summarized.European agricultural ethics is an ethical analysis of major social problems facing the development of modern agriculture.It aims to create a platform for rational dialogue to resolve ethical conflicts and social debates caused by these major social problems.Provide ethical basis and procedural rules for action judgment and public decision-making to promote responsible agricultural innovation and sustainable agricultural and food production system construction.The original agricultural ethics also more want to explore the relationship between man and agriculture,man and nature,after the emergence of biotechnology such as gene editing,the development of agricultural ethics more attention to these emerging technologies,which has a clear shift in practical ethics.In order to better understand what agricultural ethics is,according to its research theme and development characteristics,the development of European agricultural ethics is divided into three stages: rise,development and prosperity.European agricultural ethics began in the 1960 s,when Ruth Harrison’s Animal Machines exposed the cruelty of new forms of agricultural production(factory farming)and the plight of animals to the public,including a series of food safety scandals in Europe in recent decades: mad cow disease,foot-and-mouth disease,etc.,making farm animal welfare,food safety and other issues a subject of extensive social and political debate.In1993,Mayham held an Easter conference at the University of Nottingham on emerging biotechnology and agricultural ethics.European agricultural ethics has entered a stage of rapid development since European research centres,government departments,advisory boards and ad hoc committees began to explore major issues in agriculture,natural resource management and food production systems.In the past two decades,European agricultural ethics has further developed,the research platform has been expanding,and more attention has been paid to the cultivation of talents and the establishment of disciplines.The contents of the research have been continuously expanded,and new topics such as climate justice,water ethics,fishery ethics and so on have been put forward.The interdisciplinary cooperation has become more and more extensive,and a new concept of responsible innovation in agriculture has been born.With the continuous improvement of the theoretical system,European agricultural ethics has become prosperous.European agricultural ethics,through the establishment of periodicals,the establishment of societies and the training of talent team,has moved towards the development of institutionalization,discipline,dietary ethics and ethical matrix and other unique agricultural ethics schools and research methods,has been highly recognized internationally.At present,the study of agricultural ethics in our country is still in its infancy.If we want to construct modern agricultural ethics,the development experience of European agricultural ethics has a great guiding role in the establishment of agricultural ethics in our country,especially in determining the scientific connotation of agricultural ethics,clarifying the research object of agricultural ethics and clarifying the research methods of agricultural ethics.The development experience of European agricultural ethics shows that the development and growth of agricultural ethics in China,on the one hand,requires multi-disciplinary theoretical construction activities,and on the other hand,many researchers need to learn from agricultural production practitioners.Maintain close interaction with agricultural production practitioners to find problems and explore theory.Learning and understanding agriculture,on the basis of reflection and standardization of agriculture,China’s agricultural ethics can truly be approachable,play its normative and leading role in the sustainable development of China’s agriculture,In order to establish a subject of agricultural ethics in line with their own national conditions.
