This is a report on the translation of Understanding Media Psychology,of which Chapter One “Media and Media Psychology” and Chapter Two “Key Theories and Concepts from Media Psychology” are the source text.The first chapter introduces the definition and history of media,the traditional media forms,such as newspapers,magazines and radio,digital media and the relevant information of media psychology.Chapter Two introduces theories related to media and psychology studies,such as cultivation theory,uses and gratification theory and mood management theory.Guided by the frame theory of cognitive translation studies,the translator mainly uses the dynamic nature of the frame to solve the representation of contextual meaning and the cultural differences of the frame to deal with the translation of terminology.In the expression of contextual meaning,the translator mainly adopts the methods of adding frame components and creating new frames.For the translation of terminology,the translator adopts the way of supplementing the background information of the original frame,such as explaining directly in the text and adding footnotes.
