George Crumb is one of the most representative composers of modern American music. The Sonata for Cello without accompaniment, composed in 1955,is one of George Crumb’s early works. The work contains the interaction and coexistence of musical elements from different historical periods,so the article will analyze its compositional characteristics based on the work itself, and then analyze the key points of performance based on the author’s own performance experience.Afterwards,I analyze the performance from a holistic point of view, solve the difficulties of the piece, and then grasp the artistic treatment of the piece, taking the principle of "faithfulness to the original work" as the second creation principle.
