In international Chinese language teaching,Chinese characters are the foundation and difficult point of the whole Chinese language teaching,and they are the content that learners must master.How to cultivate learners’ awareness of Chinese characters and improve the efficiency of Chinese character acquisition has always been the focus of scholars’ attention.There are rich and diverse linguistic landscapes in the speech community,which disseminate information in diverse scripts and multimodal forms.The widely distributed linguistic landscapes display and present a large number of Chinese characters,providing a "natural" learning environment and teaching resources for teaching and learning Chinese characters.Therefore,how to use linguistic landscapes to teach Chinese characters and improve Chinese learners’ efficiency in acquiring Chinese characters is an issue worthy of further discussion.Based on the speech community theory,we divide the linguistic landscape into real community linguistic landscape and virtual community linguistic landscape,and examine the applicability and effectiveness of the linguistic landscape for Chinese character teaching from different language domains and different lesson types,in order to provide new ideas for Chinese character teaching.The article is divided into three parts,and the specific content structure framework is as follows.The first part is the introduction,which includes the background of the study,the overview of the current situation,the definition of concepts,the research method,the significance of the study and the sources of the corpus,and the strict definition and description of key words in the definition of concepts.The second part is the main body of the article,which is divided into five chapters.Chapter 1 analyzes the linguistic landscape and the applicability of teaching Chinese characters.Based on the collected corpus,a small-scale corpus of linguistic landscapes is formed.Based on the observation and analysis of the linguistic landscapes of different speech communities and the content and characteristics of Chinese character teaching,a systematic discussion on the suitability of linguistic landscapes of different speech communities for Chinese character teaching is conducted.Chapter 2 investigates the current situation of linguistic landscapes applied to Chinese character teaching.A questionnaire survey is conducted to understand the current situation of using linguistic landscapes for Chinese character teaching and learners’ acceptance and recognition of this teaching resource.This section details the survey design,survey process,survey results and analysis.Chapter 3 experiments on teaching Chinese characters in language landscapes for integrated classes.In order to investigate the effectiveness of using language landscapes for teaching Chinese characters in integrated classes,a complete teaching experiment was designed,focusing on the role of language landscapes in teaching Chinese character skills.The experiment is divided into four major parts,including pre-instructional analysis,instructional design,experimental implementation process and experimental results.The experiment distinguishes between real community linguistic landscape Chinese character teaching and virtual community linguistic landscape Chinese character teaching design teaching cases,while the different community experimental teaching cases are divided into two segments: simulated teaching and field teaching.Chapter 4 experiments on teaching Chinese characters in cultural classroom language landscapes.This chapter explores the effectiveness of linguistic landscapes for teaching Chinese characters in culture classes,focusing on the role of linguistic landscapes in teaching Chinese characters and culture.Specific experimental teaching is implemented for this purpose,complete with a display of teaching cases.The structure of this chapter is basically the same as that of Chapter 3,except for the design of the specific teaching content.Chapter 5 provides insights into experimental teaching of Chinese characters and suggestions for teaching strategies.Based on the multi-faceted analysis of the effects of language landscapes used in Chinese character teaching,this chapter elaborates on the multi-dimensional revelations of language landscape teaching experiments of different class types on Chinese character teaching,and based on this,proposes specific strategic suggestions for the use of language landscapes in Chinese character teaching.The third part is the conclusion,which gives a comprehensive summary of the content of the paper,explains the main innovations of the article and the shortcomings of the existing research,and discusses the future research ideas of linguistic landscape for Chinese character teaching.
