Rachmaninoff is one of the representatives of the Russian national music school,and he composed a large number of valuable works in his lifetime,including "Piano Sonata No.2 in B-flat minor",which is a voluminous,difficult work,brilliant acoustics and rich musical elements.Based on the typical structure of the classical period,this work incorporates the style of20th-century composition,combined with his characteristic "bell" chords and "sigh" descending melody,making it a significant solo piano work.The first chapter of this article provides an overview of Rachmaninoff’s life and analyzes the background to the composition of the Piano Sonata No.2 in B-flat minor,as well as the origin and differences of its three versions.Chapter 2 analyzes the structure and musical elements of the first edition of the work,mainly from the four points of personalized themes and their development,complex beat and rhythmic characteristics,color and string progression,and the use of multiple voices,so as to understand its creative concept and grasp the artistry of music.The third chapter analyzes how to express the unique elements of the work from the perspective of the main points of performance,mainly from the perspective of "sighing" theme melody,"bell" chords,and multi-level pedal use,so that the players can better practice and play the work.
