Analysis Of Zemlinsky’s Art Songs In Different Periods

As a kind of small chamber music with exquisite style and elegant taste,art song has attracted the attention of composers and the public since the 19 th century.Zemlinski,a composer at the turn of the century,was best known for his art songs.As Schoenberg’s only teacher,his technique is rich and complex,but he never breaks the tonal limits.Zemlinski’s art songs run through his entire career,and the style of creation varies from period to period.This paper will take the art songs of Zemlinsky in different periods as the research object to explore the characteristics of his creation and style,so as to understand Zemlinsky’s creation style and have a more comprehensive and rich understanding of the music development in the 19 th and 20 th century.This paper will select the third piece of Zemlinsky’s early op.6,the fourth piece of middle op.10,and the third piece of late op.13 for analysis.The analysis will involve the creation background,tonal layout,harmonic language,structural features,lyrics,singing techniques and other aspects of the work,and make a comparative study of them.This paper is divided into three chapters.The first chapter is about Zemlinski and three art songs,including Zemlinski’s life and artistic creation,three art songs overview and two sections.The second chapter is the research on the creation techniques of three art songs in different periods,which is divided into three sections: the creation analysis of the third art song op.6 in the early stage,the creation analysis of the fourth art song op.10 in the middle stage,and the creation analysis of the third art song op.13 in the late stage.The third chapter is the study of singing techniques of three art songs in different periods,which is divided into three sections: basic elements of vocal music singing,separate study of singing techniques of three art songs,and comparative study of singing techniques of three art songs.
