In recent years,the number of college graduates has increased year by year and the impact of the COVID-19 on the employment market has made the employment situation of graduates more severe.In this environment,more and more college graduates have generated greater psychological pressure,and even career selection anxiety.Moderate career selection anxiety has a certain promoting effect on graduates’ active involvement in the career selection process,but excessive career selection anxiety can seriously affect their learning,life,and physical and mental health.In order to enable college graduates to better complete their employment and help alleviate their career selection anxiety,it is urgent.Therefore,the study of career selection anxiety among college graduates is of great significance.Graduates are in the transition stage from school to society,which is a period of urgent attention and reflection on their future development.Their daily life,especially the job hunting process,is closely related to the future.Therefore,this study explores the impact of future time perspective on career selection anxiety from the perspective of future time,and introduces two variables,coping style and career selection efficacy,to explore whether they play a chain mediating role in the impact of future time perspective on career selection anxiety,to provide a new theoretical perspective for the intervention of career selection anxiety among college graduates.This study took 574 college graduates as the research objects,and conducted a survey in the form of a questionnaire.Using the SPSS 26.0 software and the Process v3.5 plug-in for data analysis,using descriptive statistics,reliability testing,Harman’s single factor test,independent sample t-test,correlation analysis,multiple regression analysis,and path analysis,the relationship between future time perspective and career selection anxiety,as well as the role of coping styles and career selection efficacy,was explored.The results are as follows:(1)College graduates have higher levels of future time perspective and career selection efficacy,lower levels of career selection anxiety,and are more inclined to adopt positive coping styles and less inclined to adopt negative coping styles.(2)There are significant differences in the future time perspective of college graduates in registered residence locations,career selection anxiety in gender and registered residence locations,positive coping styles in registered residence locations,negative coping styles in academic qualifications,and career selection efficacy in registered residence locations.(3)There is a significant correlation between future time perspective,coping styles,career selection efficacy,and career selection anxiety among college graduates.(4)College graduates’ future time perspective and career selection efficacy can significantly negatively predict career selection anxiety,while negative coping styles can significantly positively predict job selection anxiety.(5)Negative coping styles partially mediate between future time perspective and career selection anxiety.(6)Career selection efficacy partially mediates between future time perspective and career selection anxiety.(7)Coping style and career selection efficacy play a chain mediating role between future time perspective and career selection anxiety.In summary,the future time perspective of college graduates can not only directly affect career selection anxiety,but also affect career selection efficacy through influencing coping styles,ultimately affecting career selection anxiety.Therefore,we can alleviate graduates’ career selection anxiety by cultivating their future time perspective,encouraging them to adopt positive coping styles,and enhancing their career selection efficacy.
