| This translation report is based on the translation practice of Chapters 3,4 and 12 of Ford’s Autobiography My Life and Work.Written by Henry Ford, the book tells the history of his entrepreneurship and his views on business and management. This text is a biographical text characterized by its authenticity and literariness, meanwhile it also bears the characteristics of informative and expressive texts.Based on the characteristics of the text,it is most difficult to translate it in a way that not only restores the authenticity of the original content, but also reproduces the literariness and aesthetic effects of the original text. The literariness reproduction of this translation practice report is based on the characteristics of literary language, which the author classifies as self-reflexivity,indirect denotation and fictitiousness.Self-reflexivity includes the use of phonetic rhetoric, personification and parallel structures to enhance the aesthetic effect of the language;indirect denotation includes the use of explicit and implicit metaphors to achieve aesthetic effects;fictitiousness is enhanced by the rhetorical device of exaggeration. At the same time,in the process of translation, the author chooses a translation strategy based on domestication, supplemented by foreignization in order to reproduce the writing style of the original author, and mainly adopts translation methods such as free translation, literal translation and retranslation in order to reproduce the original text to the greatest extent.Through the writing of this translation practice report, the author has gained a deeper understanding of literariness in translation and proposed some solutions to the problems that arise in such literary texts. The author hopes that this translation practice report can provide corresponding reference for translators in translating biographical texts in the future. |
