| Inequity aversion is aversion of people to unfair outcomes and intentions.Inequity aversion is not only affected by individual factors, but also by social situational factors.Ultimatum game experiment is commonly used to study inequity aversion. The proposal characteristics in paradigm is an important factor affecting inequity aversion.Previous studies have shown inconsistent or even opposite results on the effect of the group identity of the respondent identity for the proposed group and the distributable stake in resource allocation on inequity aversion. In Study 1,the 2(Level of benefit: advantage inequity, disadvantage inequity)×2(Proposal: high inequity, low inequity)within-subject design was used.Thirty-one college students were asked to complete an ultimatum game task to explore the influence of the characteristics of the proposal, such as the level of benefit and the proposal scheme,on the inequity aversion.Study 2 manipulated group identity by changing the proposal group in the experimental task, using a 3(Proposal group:ingroup, middle group,outgroup)×2(Level of benefit: advantage inequity, disadvantage inequity)× 2(Proposal: high inequity, low inequity)within-subjects experimental design to have 31 college students complete an ultimatum game task to explore the effects of different proposal characteristics and group identity on unfairness Effect of inequity aversion.Study 3 used a two-factor mixed experimental design of 2(distributable stake:20,000 yuan group,20 yuan group)× 3(proposed groups: in-group,middle group, outgroup),with 31 participants in the 20,000 yuan group as the high stake group and 31 participants in the 20 yuan group as the normal stake group, for a total of 62 participants,to complete the ultimatum game task to explore the effects of group identity and distributable stake on college students’ inequity aversion.Findings were as follows:Study 1: The results indicate that both proposal characteristics affect inequity aversion are significantly different.Advantage inequity had lower rejection rates and faster reaction times compared to disadvantage inequity, and high inequity had higher rejection rates and faster reaction times compared to low inequity. The study also found a significant interaction between the level of benefit and the proposal.Study 2: The results showed that the group identification affected the inequity aversion, and the rejection rate was significantly lower when the proposed group was the in-group than the out-group and the middle-group.The study also found a significant interaction between the level of benefit and the proposed group.Study 3: The results showed that the distributable stake affected inequity aversion, and the rejection rate at the distributable stake of 20,000 yuan was significantly higher than that of 20 yuan, and there was no significant interaction between group identity and distributable stake. Conclusion: In the ultimatum game, proposal characteristics, group identity and distributable stake have an influence on inequity aversion, and an interaction is found between proposal characteristics and group identity. This study contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of the factors influencing inequity aversion and explores the effects of interpersonal characteristics and money perceptions on college students’ equity preferences. |
