Translation And Introduction Of Taohuayuanji In The English-Speaking World

Based on the significance of Taohuayuanji in Chinese literature and the going-out of Chinese culture,the author uses Mediao-translatology to investigate the cross-language spread of Taohuayuanji in the English-speaking world,mainly focusing on its translation and introduction materials.The part of translation focuses on the sorting out and text comparison of the English versions of it;the part of introduction materials focuses on the introductory texts of Taohuayuanji,such as relevant comments,annotations,etc.,all of which are in-depth interpretations of it in the English-speaking world.On the basis of the analysis of translation and introduction materials of Taohuayuanji,the attention and importance it has gained in the Chinese and English contexts are in sharp contrast.The translation and introduction of Taohuayuanji,as far as the author has concerned,does not mean its widespread dissemination in the English-speaking world.With the combination of Medio-translatology,the author concludes the reasons that may cause the loss the of Taohuayuanji in the Englishspeaking world:(1)Compromise.In the process of translation and introduction,due to the influence of language and cultural differences,the identity of the translators and the purpose of translation and introduction,the translation and introduction activities of Taohuayuanji are compromised,which makes the "language difference" and "time difference" ignored,and entitles these activities with elitism,thus irritating the the successful dissemination of the image of Taohuayuan in the English-speaking world.(2)Invisibility.The translation and introduction activities of Taohuayuanji mostly rely on Sinology studies and researches on Tao Yuanming.Few scholars have discussed the concept Taohuayuan proper.Against these more grand research background,those of Taohuayuanji have been ignored,and the image of Taohuayuan has also not been successfully conveyed.Based on the above discussion on the translation and introduction of Taohuayuanji in the English-speaking world,the author hopes to provide some reflections on the going-out of Chinese culture.
