Self-repair is an important strategy as well as a key to improve the quality of output in interpretation. It is a process in which interpreters correct their language errors in interpreting to improve accuracy of information so that speakers and audience can have a better and more effective communication.A proper amount of self-repair does help facilitate a good communication. However, sometimes an excessive amount may just bring the opposite effect and set obstacles for the audience in understanding.More importantly,it shows how unprofessional an interpreter may be and thus lower the trust of speakers and audience for him or her.Based on the mock conference of “Urbanization: Global Trends and Chinese Issues”,the thesis will combine the current studies on the self-repair to discuss and analyze the author’s problems and causes in excessive self-repairs.The thesis will also provide solutions to the different type of self-repairs.The thesis aims to help the author and all the interpreters to deliver more fluent output by reducing the number of the self-repair during interpreting, and to help interpreters to better serve as a language bridge between a speaker and the audience.
