| As one of the western painting categories,watercolor painting has experienced the practice and development of several generations of watercolor painters since it was introduced into China,which has promoted the gradual integration of watercolor painting with the traditional painting art of the nation,presenting the national characteristics of Chinese watercolor painting.As one of the outstanding painters of contemporary Chinese watercolor,Wang Shaobo was praised for his realistic works in his early days,but he advocated the combination of Chinese and Western works in art.In the painting creation of more than 40 years,he was not only immersed in watercolor painting,but also deeply studied the form of brush and ink and aesthetic interest in Chinese painting.Integrating the essence of Chinese and Western art,especially in his later works,with the expression of freehand brushwork elements presented in the watercolor language as the prominent point of the creation.Therefore,this paper takes Wang Shaobo’s watercolor landscape painting as an example,and analyzes the expression of freehand element language in Chinese contemporary watercolor landscape painting from Chinese freehand brushwork painting.Firstly,the causes of the formation of the watercolor language and the evolution of the freehand elements in the watercolor language to deepen the better understanding of the watercolor freehand language and the analysis of the expression of the freehand connotation of Wang Shaobo’s watercolor landscape painting.Finally,the inspiration of freehand brushwork to the creation of contemporary watercolor painting.Thus,we can further study the expression of freehand brushwork in Chinese contemporary watercolor landscape painting,integrate the watercolor art with the spirit of Chinese painting,and promote the diversification and prosperity and development of Chinese contemporary watercolor painting. |
