Idioms are the crystallization of the wisdom of the language and culture of the Chinese nation and an important window to understand Chinese culture. However, for Russian Chinese learners,it is not easy to learn and use Chinese idioms. There are serious errors in this aspect, which are worthy of further research and solution. In this regard, this paper investigates and analyzes the acquisition of Chinese idioms by Russian learners,in order to provide practical suggestions for Chinese teachers to teach Chinese idioms to Russian learners. The full text is divided into four parts besides the introduction. The first part compares and analyzes the definitions and classifications of idioms in Chinese and Russian, clarifies the differences in source, structure, and pragmatics of idioms in Chinese and Russian, and lays a theoretical foundation for the investigation and analysis of errors below. After comparison,it is found that the idioms in Russian and Chinese are obviously different in form and semantics.China and Russia are completely different in terms of nationality, geography, history, culture, customs, beliefs, etc.,and each has its own characteristics. Therefore, most of the idio ms in the two languages are unique to their own languages, and it is difficult to find similar idioms in the other language.Corresponding semantically consistent expressions. Therefore, this paper believes that when comparing idioms in two languages,we must pay attention to the factors of cultural differences. The second part is a survey of Russian learners’ mistakes in acquiring Chinese idioms, and based on the survey results,it analyzes Russian learners’ mistakes in understanding, using and memorizing Chinese idioms. The reason for examining these three aspects is mainly because from personal experience, these are the three aspects that Russian learners often make mistakes. From the statistical results, most learners feel that they do not know many Chinese idioms, and are not satisfied with the teaching status of Chinese idioms, and think that the use of Chinese idioms is a difficulty. The study found that the main problem faced by Russian learners in the process of learning Chinese idioms is not lack of motivation or hard work, but the current teaching methods of Chinese idioms have limited effectiveness and need to be changed. In the third part, according to the results of the questionnaire survey, the author discusses the causes of Russian students’ Chinese idiom acquisition errors. This paper believes that Russian students have a high error rate in the understanding, application and memorization of Chinese idioms in the process of acquiring Chinese idioms, which has both external and internal causes. The external reasons mainly lie in the inappropriate positioning of idiom teaching, the low requirements of the outline, and the lack of textbook compilation. The internal reasons for the errors include that Russian students’ Chinese characters are not solid enough in writing and pronunciation, they do not understand the extended meaning of idioms, they do not understand the historical and cultural knowledge behind the idioms, and they are greatly influenced by the way of thinking in their mother tongue. The last chapter puts forward the following teaching strategies:(1)Correctly locate the teaching of Chinese idioms;(2)Revise the requirements of the syllabus and compile practical textbooks and dictionaries;(3)Consolidate the foundation of students’ Chinese character memorization, writing and pronunciation;(4)Auxiliary memory with correct understanding;(5)Introduce Chinese culture and implement special topic teaching;(6)Put in use contextual teaching method, paying attention to the explanation of idiom pragmatics.
