| With globalization accelerating and intercultural communication between countries becoming increasingly frequent,it is urgent to cultivate a group of foreign language professionals so as to improve China’s international competitiveness.Colleges and universities,as the base of talent cultivation,should assume the responsibility of cultivating high-quality international talents who can adequately tell Chinese stories and broadcast Chinese voices.The integration of Chinese culture with foreign language instruction can not only strengthen learners’ cultural confidence by deepening their sense of native cultural identity,but also meet the needs of national talent development strategy.However,there is still a lack of empirical research on the integration of Chinese culture with foreign language instruction in China.Therefore,this study will focus on the correlation between Chinese foreign language majors’ native cultural identity and their intercultural communicative competence.This study adopts a mixed method,selecting foreign language majors as research subjects through random sampling,exploring the current situation of foreign language majors’ intercultural communicative competence and the dynamic changes of their native cultural identity by distributing questionnaires and semi-structured interview.Nine foreign language majors were selected by stratified sampling method to help elaborate the influence of native cultural identity on foreign language majors’ intercultural communicative competence,providing further suggestions for foreign language instruction.Through the questionnaire survey and semi-structured interviews,the major research findings are as follows:(1)The current situation of the overall intercultural communicative competence of foreign language majors is ideal.(2)There is a positive dynamic change of foreign language majors’ native cultural identity in the process of foreign language learning.(3)The positive change in foreign language majors’ native cultural identity improves their intercultural communicative competence in perspectives of intercultural knowledge,awareness,and attitude.Based on the results above,further suggestions on foreign language instruction integrated with Chinese culture are given from the perspective of teaching content,teaching materials,teaching approaches and methods,and teacher development. |
