Information completeness is an important indicator measuring the quality of interpreting. In practice, information transfer in interpreting is complex, and can be influenced by the features of languages and the performance of interpreters,so information loss often occurs.Interpreters need to utilize listening comprehension,note-taking skills, and memory load to generate accurate interpreting output. In this course, energy overload on each of the aspect may cause information loss and therefore impair interpreters’ performance, which can hinder audience from understanding speakers’ meaning.Based on the author’s interpreting performance at the Urbanization and Sustainable Development simulation forum, the author analyzed the reason of information loss in English-Chinese consecutive interpreting. The author attributed the information loss to four aspects, namely listening and comprehension overload, improper note-taking skills, memory overload and anxiety.By giving specific analysis to examples in each aspect, the author also provided improved interpretations. At the same time, the author proposed targeted coping strategies. To avoid listening and comprehension overload, interpreters should be well-prepared before interpreting,be familiar with various accents, and improve their ability of interpreting numbers. In terms of improper note-taking,interpreters should choose clear and simple symbols and reveal the logic of the speech in the notes. To avoid memory overload, interpreters should improve short-term memory and allocate attention properly in the three aspects of interpreting.Last but not least, interpreters should be calm and prepare themselves to changing circumstances to prevent anxiety.
