| The report is based on the C-E translation practice of Duo Yuan Wen Hua Jiao Liu Yu Zhong Guo Dao Lu Chuang Xin.The source material is a political publicity book,written by Liu Zhili.Chapter 5 of this book is the translation material of the report.Liu aims to free the world from the shackles of the Western discourse system and enhance the status of the Chinese discourse system from the perspective of Chinese traditional culture,Marxism,and Western cultural exchanges.He analyzes the historical origin,context,and impact of forming the Chinese Road systematically.Besides,he also reveals the comparative advantage and development trend of the Chinese Road in terms of psychological identity basis,basic knowledge,behavior wisdom,core values,etc.Numerous phrases and expressions with Chinese characteristics were largely used in the book.The book was published in 2017,with no English version up to now.Guided by the three-dimensional transformations of Eco-translatology presented by Hu Gengshen,who is a distinguished professor at Tsinghua University and a well-known translator in China.The report analyzes the English translation of the book from the linguistic,cultural,and communicative dimensions.Based on that,translation techniques were adopted as follows: From the linguistic dimension,through adopting translation methods of conversion,inversion,and amplification,the balance between the source text and target text in expression was achieved;From the cultural dimension,through adopting translation methods of annotation,paraphrase,and amplification,the balance between the source text and target text in cultural connotation was achieved;From the communicative dimension,through adopting translation methods of combination,amplification,and omission,the author’s communicative intention of the source text was conveyed.The report aims to explore the feasibility of three-dimensional transformations in the translation of political publicity texts and provide useful suggestions for the future translation of other political publicity texts. |
