In recent years, crime films have played an increasingly important role in the film industry as "mirrors" that record and reflect reality, and have become a force to be reckoned with Chinese documentary filmmakers have been able to adapt and transcend the classic Hollywood narrative, thus exploring a virtuous development path that blends artistry and commercialism, authorship and genre,in the midst of China’s industrialised existence. With scalpel-like sharp images, they cut into the foci of the times and society, using a strong realist approach to pulse the pains of the times and realistic worries of contemporary China, and underneath the inner shell of genre films, the insight is a profound social outlook and human concern hidden under the genre narratives. This paper will adopt the research method of representative case study and textual reading to systematically interpret the creative characteristics and aesthetic style of Chinese crime films since the 20 th century from two dimensions: content creation and image creation,so as to provide more suggestions for the future creation of Chinese crime films.
