Traditional Chinese scroll painting is of high research value as one of the symbols of traditional Chinese art, while figure painting,as an extremely important branch of traditional painting,is also a presence in the history of painting that cannot be ignored. This paper provides a more holistic overview of traditional scroll painting by combing through the forms of scroll painting.Using a spatial approach,it focuses on the pictorial space, the graphic narrative space and the interactive extension space in Gu Kaizhi’s scroll paintings, using his scroll figure paintings as specific examples.By examining and sorting out the pictorial and pictorial internal spaces of the "Luo Shen Fu",the "Women’s History and Proverbs" and the "Lie Nv Ren Zhi",the thesis extends to the external reasons for the formation of the spatial narrative of Gu Kaizhi’s scroll paintings. Finally, the thesis sheds light on the spatial narrative in Gu Kaizhi’s scroll paintings, focusing on the relationship between literary and artistic aspects of Gu Kaizhi’s scroll paintings and reflections on the way they are exhibited,as well as the links between scroll painting and contemporary art.Through the study of Gu Kaizhi’s scroll figure paintings, the paper attempts to explore the analytical approach to traditional scroll figure painting and the influence of scroll painting on contemporary art.
