| As the winner of the 2007 Nobel Prize in Literature,Doris Lessing is known as the "evergreen tree" in the British literary world,and she has created a large number of works with a wide range of subjects and high quality in her creative career.In the process of Britain’s aging society,Lessing shows the living conditions of the elderly group and their thinking on self-subject through a series of novels,Meanwhile,analyzes the phenomenon of the stigmatization of the elderly in social discourse,and potentially discusses the view of old age and death under western individualism.This paper consists of three chapters.The first chapter defines the basic concepts of "old age" and "the aged writing" in Lessing’s works,analyzes the causes of aging society from the social and historical context of Britain in the 20 th century,and sorts out British literature.The origin of the writing on the theme of old age,presents Lessing’s literature and literary views on the writing of the elderly,and explores the connotation of her writing on the elderly from her overall literary thought.The second chapter analyzes the themes of old age in lessing’s five major works from the perspective of material and spirit,and explores the interaction between the elderly group and the operation of power implied behind the themes.The third chapter starts from the perspective of the reconstruction of the identity of the elderly in Lessing’s novels on the elderly,explores the significance of the writing of the elderly theme in Lessing’s works,and explores how the elderly group completes the reconstruction of self-worth in a society of fear of the elderly.How the aesthetic value and practical significance of lessing’s aged writing is finally realized with this form.To sum up,Lessing takes the themes of old age in many novels as the content,and tries to criticize the phenomenon of old age discrimination in Western society at the spiritual level,revealing the multiple physical and spiritual dilemmas of the elderly,and at the practical level,she tries to The name of the elderly group is rectified,so that the elderly can continue to integrate their self-worth and enrich and improve themselves in their later years.Combining the theme of old age in Lessing’s works,this paper attempts to explore the meaning and value behind her novels from the connotation of her aged writing. |
