Reinvigoration And Control:A Study On Armed Fights Among Ethnic Groups In Jinjiang After The Victory Of Anti-Japanese War

After the the Anti-Japanese War,Fujian changed from the wartime system to the peacetime system,the military forces withdrew from the countryside,the new governance mechanism was not formed,and the power vacuum appeared in the rural society.At that time,southern Fujian drought,plague rampant,people’s livelihood is desolate,the competition for survival resources is increasingly fierce,the wartime temporary rest of the knife fight again blazing.Jin Jiang,an important town in Southern Fujian province,held a race to welcome gods for praying Disasters.However,conflicts between performing acts and welcoming ceremonies have led to frequent fistfights.The local government claimed to eliminate the conflict by collecting superstitious donations,but the corruption of the local government made it turn into punishment and even escalated into conflicts between the military and the people.Later,in order to run for the national Congress,Jin Jiang gentry relied on family and clan forces to form cliques and bribe votes,which not only intensified conflicts and led to feuds,but also seriously eroded the authority of grassroots political power.Jin Jiang is the main source of Overseas Chinese in the Philippines.After the war,the sea traffic was restored,and some overseas Chinese got involved in the armed Fighting with the weapons by remittance of overseas Chinese and smuggling of weapons.As a result,the armed Fighting with the weapons in Jin Jiang township intensified,and the government struggled to deal with it.In early 1949,with the Victory of the Communist Party in sight,fujian authorities declared martial law and once again imposed military control.The defeated Kuomintang lacked the motivation to control,and military control was empty talk.After the founding of New China,the state integrated and reconstructed the grassroots political power and the rural society,established an efficient governance system,formed a good rural order,reversed the trend of worsening clan Fighting with the weapons in Jin Jiang township since modern times,and promoted the stable development of rural areas.From 1946 to 1949,the revival of the tribal Fighting with the weapons in Jin Jiang township was a concrete manifestation of the out-of-control government governance and the disorder of rural society under the special situation.It not only highlights the embarrassment of rural control in the kuomintan-controlled areas,but also provides a perspective to explain the rapid collapse of kuomintang rule.
