CéLine Sciamma:Female Discourse Expression Beyond Queerness

At present,there is little research on Celine Ciamma in China.She is a director with special status,and her works are also full of personal style,which is of great research value.Ciamma has written and directed five feature-length films,Naissance des pieuvres,Tomboy,Bande de filles,Portrait de la jeune fille en feu,and Petite maman,all of which tell coming-of-age stories from a female point of view,while her female protagonists are more or less queer.With her delicate female feelings,real gender understanding and outstanding directing skills,Ciamma creates stories that truly belong to women and queer people.She refuses to be infiltrated by any discourse of male power and heterosexual hegemony,and persistently uses her works to speak for marginalized gender and provide ideas for the construction of real equality.Therefore,the study of Celine Sciamma is of reference significance to the creation and research of other women and queer films.This paper makes textual analysis of five works written and directed by Sciamma from two aspects of content and form.From the perspective of feminism and queer studies,this paper starts with the analysis based on Sciamma’s unique gender identity,her consistent theme and her gradually mature minimalist style.It is divided into three parts:the politics of women’s self-viewing,the more compatible care in the interweaving of women and queer identity,the restrained female expression and the endless implication,and makes a systematic exposition of the ideological connotation and film characteristics of Celine Sciamma’s works.The introduction reviews Ciamma’s life experience and creation process.She has been actively participating in various gender equality activities and has a firm feminist position and queer position,which has an important influence on her film creation,and her work has also become one of the platforms for her to fight for the rights and interests of marginalized gender groups.Later,she received professional education in literature and screenwriting,which provided the foundation for her to write and direct her own films.The first chapter,"Politics of female self-observation",is divided into three parts:focusing on female growth,constructing equal power relations,and multi-layer writing of female desire.The whole chapter discusses Ciamma’s concern about the living state of female compatriots and the prospect of their future development.The first section analyzes the plight of gender oppression and gender performance in ciamma’s films,and the establishment of gender utopia in ciamma’s films provides space for women’s growth.The second section discusses that Ciamma uses two means of establishing female alliance and getting rid of male gaze to shape her works into a real "paradise" of equality and provides ideas for establishing real gender equality.The third section discusses ciamma’s multilayer writing of female desire,which is divided into two levels of desire harmony,emotion and body,so that her heroines become real and vivid,full and three-dimensional female images.In the second chapter of "women and queer identity more compatible with care",the overall discusses the celine sciamma special gender identity for her film brought a different perspective,make her to be real and exquisite to reflect the living condition and the thought emotion,queer overturns the traditional "outsider" director of the shape of edge gender groups.First of all,Ciamma’s multiple gender identity enables her to have innovative expression,and at the same time,to connect gender with class ethnicity.Her expression is both gendered and supergendered.Secondly,sciamma’s diversified identity enables her to have an inclusive vision.Her observation of marginalized gender groups is comprehensive,unbiased and progressive.Sciamma sympathizes with the living environment of queer people,but has a positive outlook for their future.The third chapter "restrained expression and endless implication",discusses the overall celine sciamma audio-visual and narrative style,minimalist style throughout the celine sciamma work,peace in plain audio-visual language and narrative rhythm is under the connotation,the surge of emotion and complex relationship,at the same time,celine sciamma alienation from created to respect the independent status of the audience,Her films are simple but not simple.Celine Sciamma is an obscure but talented young French director.Her gender identity makes her a distinctive creator.She uses film to express herself and give voice to marginalized groups.This paper aims to provide references for the research and creation of feminist and queer films through in-depth analysis and systematic arrangement of the themes and styles of Ciamma’s works.
