| The dulcimer,as a young Chinese traditional national instrument, has embodied the characteristics of Chinese traditional music after four hundred years of development, whether in instrument restructuring, performance technology or music creation; From the original instrumental accompaniment of opera to the present professional performance,it shows the prosperity of dulcimer in China.Four major dulcimer schools have been developed in the integration with local folk music:Guangdong music school,Jiangnan Sizhu dulcimer school,Sichuan dulcimer school, and Northeast dulcimer school.Mr.Wang Yifu,a representative of the Northeast Dulcimer School, has made great contributions to the inheritance and innovation of the Dulcimer cause and is a pioneer in the teaching of Dulcimer performance.Spring is a very typical dulcimer work of the Northeast style created by Mr.Wang Yifu in 1959.In his works,Mr.Wang gave four themes and expressed the people’s yearning and longing for a new life with cheerful melody; The classical techniques of rubbing strings, shaking bamboo, sliding bamboo, and hooking strings of the Northeast dulcimer school are used. The "hooking string" technique is the dulcimer technique created by Mr.Wang in 1956,and is first skillfully used in the repertoire.Once the novel technique is played, the audience will be dazzled. The innovation of Spring lies in inheriting the musical style and traditional techniques of the Northeast dulcimer on the one hand, and adding innovative techniques such as hooking strings to enhance the musical expression on the other hand. The unique works reflect the artistic style of Mr.Wang Yifu’s creation and performance, and highlight his artistic contribution. |
