Cultural Inheritance And Artistic Innovation

"Painting with historical themes" has played a significant role in the history of Chinese art since the 20 th century,and has actively contributed to the inheritance of historical context and the promotion of artistic development.The historical subject matter in the Quanzhou paintings of the Song Dynasty cannot be separated from the local cultural background.The diverse and prosperous culture of ancient Quanzhou is the source of subject matter creation.At the same time,the creation of subject matter is an important way to inherit historical culture.This article first sorts out the painting works with Song Dynasty history as the subject matter since the new era,analyzes the essential connection between historical texts and subject matter paintings,and summarizes the creative rules.Secondly,from the two perspectives of "inheritance" of painting themes and "innovation" of painting forms,the painting works with historical themes in Quanzhou during the Song Dynasty are analyzed,exploring how Quanzhou culture is reflected in the works and studying the artistic language expression of this subject matter creation.Finally,integrating the insights and reflections gained from the above studies,the author incorporates them into their oil painting practice,aiming to explore the contemporary significance of Song dynasty Quanzhou figure painting in promoting historical and cultural inheritance as well as artistic innovation.
