| Language is an important tool for spreading and understanding.The cross-culture communication will inevitably be affected by their own national cultural background.Finally,the speakers will express the ideas under the influence of the culture they represent in the process of communication.Therefore,it is important for students not only to learn English well and use this most common communication tool in international communication,but also to learn how to express Chinese culture in English and spread Chinese culture in cross-cultural communication.The English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education mentions that cultural awareness is one of the core qualities of English as a subject of English as the goal of English curriculum,which includes both the learning of foreign cultures and the learning of Chinese cultures and their English expressions.However,for a long time,cultural learning in English classroom mostly refers to foreign culture,and there is little mention of Chinese culture and its English expression.In view of this,based on the theory of intercultural communication and the theory of cultural response teaching,this paper comprehensively uses the methods of literature research,questionnaire survey,classroom observation and data analysis to study the following three questions:(1)What is the situation of Chinese culture classroom teaching in junior high school English reading teaching?(2)What is the attitude of teachers and students towards integrating Chinese culture into English classroom?(3)What is the English expression ability of Chinese culture for junior high school students? 20 teachers and 170 students from X Middle School in Xintai,Shandong Province are selected as the participants.The valid questionnaires were collected from 20 teachers and 170 students respectively.This survey draws three conclusions.First,teaching activities is still focused on language knowledge learning,and teachers does not pay enough attention to Chinese cultural teaching.Second,most teachers and students have a strong interest in Chinese culture,but they have insufficient motivation for teaching and learning.Third,students’ ability to express Chinese culture in English is kind of weak,and the cultural knowledge they receive and learn is limited to textbook content.At the end of the paper the author puts forward corresponding countermeasures by analyzing the current situation and existing problems for that. |
