Wen Hui Tu is a colorful silk painting which was jointly created by Zhao Ji,Emperor Huizong of Song Dynasty and court painters.It is rich in content and profound in connotation.It has very important reference value for the study of Song Dynasty painting and material culture history.Because most researchers today define it by its name,they classify it as a collection of literati work,to a certain extent,they ignore its painting title and inscriptions are not correspond to the image.Therefore,this paper attempts to redefine the scope of the painting by mining the creation background of Wen Hui Tu;combined with historical facts and documentary records to analyse the authenticity and meaning of its inscriptions,further clear the theme of this picture and reveal the reason for the particular combination of images and texts;the composition,drawing technique and other details of Wen Hui Tu will be compared with contemporaneous and antecedent paintings,on the basis of determining it has some characteristics of imperial-court decorative painting of Song Dynasty,the author will explain the close connection between this painting and the civilian political system at that time.Finally,this paper will demonstrate the possibility of it works as an integral part of the civil officials memorial system.
