| The lady’s Journal was founded and published by Shanghai Commercial Press in1915.It was born in Shanghai at the transition of the old era.It has been published for17 years,during which it experienced major historical events such as the May 4th New Culture Movement,the May 30 th Movement and the Japanese Invasion of China.As a mass media,it has the function of collecting,recording and disseminating,and it is also a witness of the social life of Shanghai in the early Republic of China.Among the many women’s magazines published in the late Qing Dynasty and even the Republic of China,The lady’s Journal has been published for a long time,published more comprehensive contents,and had a far-reaching influence on women.At the same time,its influence was not limited to the period of its publication,but continued after its closure.The issues concerning women presented by The lady’s Journal reflected,to some extent,the situation of women’s circles at that time.The lady’s Journal has gone through the changes of six editors,and each magazine’s editorial style orientation has its own distinct characteristics and changes with time.It has changed from the original women’s books for the purpose of virtuous wife and good mother,to the radical publications in pursuit of women’s liberation,and then back to the entertainment magazine with women as the main body.In the 17 years since the publication of the magazine,The two communities of editors and writers build a rich and readable world of ideas for readers.How the author interprets the published content,how the readers understand and digest the published content and give feedback to the magazine,why the editor chooses the published items,how to build a platform for readers and authors,and how these three groups interact in the magazine are the key questions to be solved in this paper.Based on this,this paper puts The lady’s Journal in the perspective of reading history,studies and interprets three groups related to the process of reading magazines-editors,authors and readers-in a three-dimensional space.Starting from the reading era,this paper sorts out the development context of Shanghai women’s magazines since the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,and Outlines the environmental background of the founding of The lady’s Journal.Try to understand the issue and operation of The lady’s Journal.Starting from different subjects,articles are selected according to the editor,the author writes the text,and the reader reads the magazine.The interaction between the editor group,the author group and the reader group is studied.Combined with the background of The Times,it connects the reading text with the relationship of The Times,comprehensively analyzes that the operation process of The lady’s Journal is completed by the joint efforts of the three groups,and at the same time solves the problem of the ownership of the right of speech of The lady’s Journal in terms of how it speaks and for whom it speaks. |
