A Study On The Reduplicated Forms Of Adjectives In Shaoxing Dialect

Shaoxing dialect is one of the representative dialects in Wu dialect area,which has always been concerned and valued by scholars.Reduplication is an important grammatical means in Chinese,and adjective reduplication is an important grammatical phenomenon in modern Chinese,as well as in Shaoxing dialect.In this paper,the reduplicated forms of adjectives in Shaoxing dialect are divided into three types: simple reduplication,extended reduplication and affix reduplication.These six types of adjective reduplication have different structures,semantic functions and grammatical functions,and the degree of basic form "A" expressed is also different.This paper makes a comprehensive discussion from three aspects:word formation and formation form,semantic function and grammatical function,and comprehensively and systematically describes the reduplicated system of adjectives in Shaoxing dialect.The paper is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly introduces the history of Shaoxing,the outline of Shaoxing dialect,the relevant research results of Shaoxing dialect,the current research situation of Chinese adjective reduplication,the research object and significance of the thesis,and explains the corpus source of the thesis.The second chapter studies the simple reduplication of adjectives,which mainly includes AABB and ABAB.The paper analyzes the structure,semantic function and grammatical function of these two adjective reduplication forms.The third chapter studies the extended reduplication of adjectives,which mainly includes ABB and AAB.The paper analyzes the structure,semantic function and grammatical function of these two adjective reduplication forms.The reduplication of ABB occupies an absolutely strong position in the reduplicated forms of adjectives in Shaoxing dialect,and a certain number of four-syllable words of ABCC derived from it are retained in Shaoxing dialect.The reduplication of AAB is a typical form of adjective reduplication in Wu dialect,which is not found in Mandarin.In addition,there is a complementary relationship between ABB and AAB adjectives,which is discussed in this paper.The fourth chapter studies the reduplication of adjectives affixes,which mainly includes AA-jiao and AXAY.The paper analyzes the structure,semantic function and grammatical function of these two adjective reduplication forms.The reduplication of AA-jiao is also a typical form of adjective reduplication in Wu dialect,which is not found in Mandarin.The fifth chapter is the conclusion,which mainly summarizes the comparison of Shaoxing dialect adjective reduplication forms with the surrounding Wu dialect adjective reduplication forms and Mandarin adjective reduplication forms,and puts forward some views on the shortcomings of the paper and the future research direction.
