Prosopagnosia, also known as facial blindness, refers to the inability to quickly and easily recognize others through their faces(Bodamer,1947),which can have a profound impact on patients’ social skills.Currently, there is no formal diagnostic standard for facial agnosia, and most of the existing studies screen for facial agnosia by accumulating evidence of convergence, that is,increasing the use of multiple screening tools, such as the unfamiliar face memory test, the familiar face memory test, questionnaires, and interviews,to observe whether subjects exhibit consistent facial recognition features in different tasks. In this study, three of the most commonly used and representative tests in previous studies-the Cambridge Face Memory Test(CFMT),the Famous and Family Faces Test(FFT),and the 20 Item Face Loss Index Questionnaire(PI-20)were selected for revision. After two revisions,a Chinese version of the face recognition screening system for college students in Hangzhou was finally formed and initially applied.Study 1 revised CFMT,FFT,and PI-20.Based on testing the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the face recognition screening tool,a standardized face recognition screening norm suitable for college students in Hangzhou was established, and the current prevalence of face recognition among college students in Hangzhou was further investigated.Study 2 conducted a preliminary application of the revised versions of CFMT,FFT,and PI-20,and explored the internal impact mechanism of face recognition ability and related variables in combination with relevant scales. The specific results are as follows:(1)The Chinese versions of CFMT,FFT,and PI-20 have good reliability and validity. The Chinese version of CFMT includes two versions: CFMT-BB and CFMT-BG,both of which have an internal consistency reliability of above 0.86 and an acceptable replica reliability coefficient of 0.69.The Chinese version of CFMT was tested using the Asian revised version of CFMT as the criterion, with a criterion validity of 0.7.The Asian version of CFMT was also used as a criterion test for FFT,with a criterion validity of 0.49(p<0.01).The internal consistency reliability of the Chinese version of PI-20 was 0.89.Using the Asian revised version of CFMT and the Chinese version of the Empathy Quotient Questionnaire(EQ)as the criterion tests, the criterion validity was-0.13(p<0.01)and-0.180(p<0.01),respectively.(2)A standardized screening norm for face blindness among college students in Hangzhou was established, and the prevalence of face blindness among college students in Hangzhou was investigated based on the results of the norm sample. The results showed that the prevalence rate of facial agnosia among college students in Hangzhou was 0.77% to 1.53%.(3)The Chinese version of the face recognition screening tool was initially applied. The Chinese version of the face recognition screening tool, the Social Interaction Anxiety Scale(SIAS),the Social Fear Scale(SPS),the Chinese version of the Empathy Quotient Questionnaire(EQ),and the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ-R)were used to test college students in Hangzhou. The results showed that social anxiety(B=0.22,p=0.009)and empathy(B=-0.145,p=0.02)significantly predicted subjective reported face recognition abilities. Conclusion: The revised face recognition screening tool has good reliability and validity, and has preliminary application value.
