He Zhuo’s Calligraphy School Exploration Activities And The Transformation Of His Calligraphy Thought

He Zhuo(1661-1722)was a famous calligrapher,book collector and outstanding proof-reading scholar in the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty who opened the trend of proofreading of this period.He had a difficult political career in his life,but he devoted himself to learning,and made great achievements in literary criticism and the appreciation of stele.He traveled everywhere and made many friends,such as Xu Qianxue,Li Guangdi,Mao Yi,Yan Ruoqu,Yang Bin,Chen Yixi and other famous scholars.However,due to the political disturbance in the early Qing Dynasty,his works were almost lost,and there is still a great lack of study on him by later generations.He Zhuo’s inscriptions and postscripts,letters,notes on historical records and collated books need to arranging and studying.Through these historical materials,his academic thoughts and proof-reading achievements can be further revealed.The writer takes the relationship between He Zhuo’s proof-reading activities and his calligraphic thought as the research object,takes the political background and academic background related to calligraphy of the Qing Dynasty and the transformation of He Zhuo’s calligraphic thought as the clue,and focuses on some problems of his thought transformation from the perspective of proofreading.In addition to the introduction and conclusion,this article is divided into three parts.First,it is about the fashion of early Qing calligraphy,and the course of his calligraphy and early calligraphic ideas are introduced.Second,first of all,a general study of the academic atmosphere in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties is made,then He Zhuo’s friends in such an academic atmosphere is discussed,and thus the opinion that He Zhuo enriched his knowledge of A and made contributions to B through exchanges with his teachers and friends;later,He Zhuo’s proodread books and rubbings are collected,and the academic methods he used in the proofreading are analyzed;finally,the tendency of stele in He Zhuo’s calligraphy and the influence of the proofreading activities on his thought is discussed.Third,the influence of his calligraphy thoughts and proofreading achievements on later generations are mainly discussed.All of these are in order to enhance the understanding of his calligraphy thoughts.In addition,He Zhuo’s excellent proofreading ability and the proofread texts left are also worth to study deeply.In fact,the transformation of his calligraphy thoughts was closely related to his proofreading activities.The combination of the two parts can reclarify the time when He Zhuo’s calligraphy thoughts changed,which is of positive significance to the study of his calligraphy thoughts and the solution of stele study’s problems in the Qing Dynasty.At the same time,He Zhuo’s spirit of proofreading and careful attitude are exactly worth to study and praise by contemporary scholars.
