Exploring The Possibility Of “Alternative Imagination”

Xuanhuan,as a fiction genre that flourishes on online platforms,not only benefits from the inclusiveness of online media but liberates the writing of "alternative imagination".This paper analyzes the genre characteristics of Xuanhuan from different types by comparing Xuanhaun with Fantasy,Wuxia,Shenmo and science fiction.Both Xuanhuan and Fantasy tell stories by constructing unfamiliar "other worlds".Compared with Fantasy,Xuanhuan prefer to create a "sense of immersion" in the storyworlds,and the narrative grammar of the story can be summarized as "little men develop into world heroes".Xuanhuan continued part of the plot of Wuxia,but due to the transfer of plot functions,Xuanhuan was differentiated from Wuxia.Xuanhuan places plot clues in the relationship between the storyworlds and characters,thus unfolds a "narrative of social growth".The logic of Xuanhuan narrate otherworlds is similar to traditional Chinese mythical novels.From the perspective of narrative structure,Xuanhuan and Shenmo rely on the transformation of space to constructe the story.And Xuanhuan rebelled against the logic of Shenmo,and created a large number of characters who are neither good nor evil in the story.In the use of Xuanhuan elements,Xuanhuan borrows from the creative method of science fiction that relies on basic principles and boldly conceives.Because the principle of occult use is too mysterious,showing that all fantasies serve the plot and the purpose of shaping the character image,the elements of Xuanhuan are also easy to make occult imagination nonsensical.Xuanhuan are the imaginative literature of allegorical estrangement which makes the directivity of fantasy imagination multi-layered,so the discussion of the value of Xuanhuan should also be carried out with the help of more specific analysis.
