’The Objects’-The Symbol And Metaphor In Contemporary Feminist Painting

This article will show how I start from the symbolism of images,combine feminist concepts with contemporary pop culture research(such as fan culture),and how I create the series of paintings ‘The Objects’ by exploring the metaphor of painting forms and materials.My research and practice comes from the analysis of contemporary artists’ multi-media practice,including porcelain,pottery,embroidery,knitting,sewing,etc.By thinking about the changes of women’s identity,image and self-consciousness from the past to the present,I use the anthropomorphic image in creation to try to break these stereotypes.A collage of fragmented female images is used to construct an "object" image that refuses to be objectified.This paper aims to dialectically view the influence of traditional social customs and phenomena on women from a new perspective,and at the same time pay attention to the public’s stereotype of being a woman in daily life.
