With the development of economy and the changes of social times, the requirements faced by contemporary college students are becoming more complex and diverse, which means that they will bear many psychological pressures.Mental health problems are very common among college students. When college students face excessive pressure, they may also exhibit some unhealthy coping behaviors that are harmful to their physical and mental health. In recent years, the prevalence of alcohol consumption among Chinese college students has generally increased, and excessive drinking can lead to a series of problems related to alcohol use, including hazardous and harmful drinking behaviors.Research has found that high stress perception is associated with a low sense of self-efficacy,which can make people feel higher stress, unable to solve psychological problems in an effective manner, and more prone to excessive alcohol consumption. This study will explore the relationship between college students’ stress perception and hazardous and harmful drinking behaviors,as well as the mediating role of self-efficacy.Based on this, motivational interview(MI)group counseling will be conducted to explore the intervention effect on self-efficacy,providing reference basis for strengthening the mental health status of college students. The study included two sub studies:This study will explore the relationship between college students’ stress perception and hazardous and harmful drinking behaviors,as well as the mediating role of self-efficacy.Based on this, motivational interviewing(MI)group counseling will be conducted to explore the effectiveness of its intervention, providing reference evidence for strengthening the mental health status of college students. The study included two sub studies:In Study 1,a questionnaire survey was conducted among 800 college students, using the Stress Perception Scale, the General Self Efficacy Scale, and the Alcohol Use Disorder Screening Scale. The effective data were analyzed and processed to explore the relationship between college students’ stress perception and hazardous and harmful alcohol consumption,as well as the mediating role of self-efficacy in it.The results showed that:(1)The level of stress perception of college students was positively correlated with hazardous and harmful alcohol consumption, while the level of stress perception was negatively correlated with selfefficacy, and self-efficacy was negatively correlated with hazardous and harmful alcohol consumption;(2)Self-efficacy plays a partial mediating role in college students’ stress perception and hazardous and harmful alcohol consumption.Based on Study 1,Study 2 selected 16 subjects with low self-efficacy and hazardous and harmful drinking behaviors, and divided them into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group received six motivational interviewing(MI)intervention groups based on improving self-efficacy,and used the same set of questionnaires to test the intervention effect of group counseling through comparing the analysis results of the two sets of data. The results showed that compared with the control group, the self-efficacy of the experimental group increased, indicating that the intervention was effective. In summary, this study draws the following conclusions:(1)The level of stress perception of college students not only directly affects hazardous and harmful alcohol consumption, but also indirectly plays a role through self-efficacy.(2)Motivational interview group intervention can play an effective role in improving college students’ self-efficacy and thereby reducing their hazardous and harmful alcohol consumption behavior.
