Study On《The Stele Of Chen Shuyi Repairing Confucius Temple》 In The Sui Dynasty

This paper starts with the overall style of calligraphy in the Sui Dynasty and stele inscription reviewed by the ancients,then enters into the specific study on “The Stele of Chen Shuyi Repairing Confucius Temple" in the Sui Dynasty.First of all,it interprets the inscription,giving a more comprehensive interpretation of the Ping Que of the inscription,the identity of the owner of the inscription,the author of the inscription—— Zhong Xiaojun,and the repair of the Confucius Temple recorded in the inscription;Secondly,this paper discusses the situation of the missing words in the stele,the misreading of the inscription,and the official title of the Ming Fu in the Sui Dynasty by sorting out the description of bibliography,preface and postscript on the rubbings and collection of rubbings since the Song Dynasty.;Thirdly,this paper makes a whole and partial comparison of the inscription calligraphy;Finally,summarize the enlightenment gained from learning the calligraphy of this inscription.Late Qing Dynasty,some scholars divided the study of epigraphy in the Qing Dynasty into two schools,one of which emphasized the appreciation and the other emphasized the textual research.The author’s investigation of this stele is also based on these two points.On the one hand,we should pay attention to the artistic value of the stele,on the other hand,we should also pay attention to the in-depth excavation of historical material.
