| Giacomo Puccini was the most influential opera composer in Italy in the late19 th century and early 20 th century.His operas were so popular that they were frequently performed around the world and were considered to be the box-office guarantee for opera houses.But at the same time,some of his work has always been accompanied by severe criticism from some professionals,which has formed a serious paradox with its popularity.Starting from this paradox,this paper observes Puccini’s operas in a specific historical context and aesthetic concept.In the first chapter,it sorts out the evaluation of Puccini’s operas by others in history.In the second chapter,it deeply thinks about various critical viewpoints encountered by Puccini’s works,and thinks about the essence of opera art and critical methods.The third chapter is the author’s analysis and evaluation of Puccini’s opera artistic characteristics and ideological value. |
