| In the middle and late nineteenth century,comparative linguistics appeared and developed gradually.When the method of comparative linguistics was applied to myths and legends and religious documents,a new discipline such as religious studies was born.When the study of religion started,a large number of foundational religious scholars emerged.Maurice Bloomfield,the main subject of this article,is one of them.Bloomfield’s research mainly focuses on the fields of comparative linguistics and Vedic translation and research,and based on this,he tries to explain in the book "Vedic Religion" how the Vedic religion developed and evolved into the Upanishad philosophy.process,focusing on explaining how Indian pessimism and the doctrine of reincarnation emerged.This article is mainly divided into two parts: "Description" and "Comment".The root cause explaining the change in thought in India during the period from the Vedas to the Upanishads is the superiority of the Aryan race.Then on the basis of this conclusion,I try to explain the tendency of racism and Western-centrism in the academic field of religious studies in the initial stage of religious studies.Attempt at last to account for the turn of this tendency which took place after Bloomfield.Based on the introduction of Bloomfield,an important religious scholar who has long been forgotten by domestic academic circles,this article attempts to outline the academic tendency and its disintegration process in the budding period of religious studies,so as to give future scholars further thinking about the future of humanism and human provide material and idea resources. |
