| With an increasing demand for more efficient communications, simultaneous interpreting has flourished and attracted more and more experts and scholars to study. However, due to its complexity in multi-tasking requirement, strategy is conducive to a coherent interpretation, making interpreters well-performed under pressure. This thesis first reviews the development of simultaneous interpreting and briefly introduces the features of political language, while summarizing the relevant studies on reformulation strategy in simultaneous interpreting techniques, focusing on the definition and classification.Reformulation strategies proposed by Yao Bin and Roderick Jones are revised into four parts, including simplification, omission, explicitation and anticipation. Finally, based on the previous studies at home and abroad, this thesis adopts and redesigns Mr.Dawrant’s quality assessment criteria for simultaneous interpretation, covering three categories, namely accuracy, coherence, and language. The author aims to explore the strategy use and performance of student interpreters in C-E simultaneous interpreting, under the framework of reformulation strategy. This study selects an excerpt from the National Awards Ceremony for COVID-19 Fighters held at the Great Hall of People in Beijing on September 8,2020 by President Xi Jinping,to analyze the reformulation strategy employed by student interpreters in C-E simultaneous interpreting of political discourse, through case study and experiment, and to evaluate the quality of performance,in order to verify the feasibility of reformulation strategy and find out that the use of reformulation strategy is positively correlated with interpreting performance by student interpreters. |
