| The text of this translation practice report is originated from An Introduction to Modern Terminology(Updated Edition),authored by Professor Feng Zhiwei who is a Chinese terminology researcher. The translation work in the report is concerned with Chapter One,which mainly introduces the history and research status of terminology. The theory applied in the report is Eco-translatology proposed by Professor Hu Gengshen, which is solely derived and created in China and conducts translation studies from the perspective of ecology. In the report, the author mainly applies the theory of Adaptation and Selection as well as Three-dimensional Transformations method in the process of translation.Based on 25 samples of the English translation, the report discusses the guiding role of Eco-translatology in English translations for academic texts from the perspectives of language, culture and communication, with the aim of using the theory to achieve multi-dimensional transformations and enhance the comprehensibility and readability of the translation work.As for the transformation of language dimension,it can be adjusted from parts of speech, word order, voice, etc. In the transformation of cultural dimension, transliteration, annotation and the combination of transliteration and free translation can be adopted to achieve the purpose of cultural transmission. In view of the communicative transformation, the translation methods of amplification and omission can be used. The case analyses in the practice report shows that the Eco-translatology plays a guiding role in English translations for academic texts.By adopting different translation methods and approaches in combination with Eco-translatology,the multi-dimensional transformations and adaptive selection of the translation are finally achieved, and the quality of the translation is improved. |
