The dispersion managed soliton transmission is a improved practically type of soliton -based communication scheme, which was first put forward in the middle of 90's. For realizing this scheme, in this paper, it is studied completely, systematically, deeply in theories and applications.The concept, the transmission theories, the research methods and the control schemes of optical fiber soliton communication are summarized and reviewed firstly, and then, the concept, the system schemes, the transmission theories and the foreground of development of the dispersion managed soliton (DMS) are discussed in chapter 1.Firstly in chapter 2, the basic characteristics of DMS are detailed theoretically studied by methods of analysis and numerical compute. Secondly, adopting the guiding-center soliton theory the characteristic of transmission of DMS are exact mathematical analyzed and the condition of stabilization transmission of DMS scheme is revealed. At the same time, the energy enhancement factor of DMS and DMS restraining to the modulation instability and Gordon-Haus effect are also studied.The controlling mechanism to several factors on the DMS transmission system is emphatic studied in chapter 3. Using the Lagrange varitional method and considering the cross phase modulation (XPM) as perturbation factor, the characteristic of DMS are synthetically analyzed and studied in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and optical time division multiplexing (OTDM) systems for the first time. At the same time in the first time, the DMS-WDM system of multi-perturbations (such as XPM, the noise of amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) and ASE-XPM) and its influence on system performance are also analyzed by varitional method. At last in this chapter, the influence of third order dispersion (TOD) on DMS transmission are studied.The scheme of online filters control in DMS system is studied in chapter 4. The transmission equation of filter control DMS system which is expressed as perturbation equation is educed and analyzed by varitional method for the first time. The filter control of perturbation of XPM andnoise of ASE are also studied. At last in this chapter, the timing jitter of filter control in WDM system is analyzed by varitional method for the first time, the effect of filter control in DMS and common soliton WDM system is compared, which results can be used to design the filter control WDM DMS system.The DMS transmission theory on influence of polarization mode dispersion is studied in chapter 5. Firstly, the transmission theories model of linear optical pulse and nonlinear optical pulse are systematically summarized in birefringence fiber. For the first time, the model of DMS transmission and control equation (DMP equation) in birefringence fiber is built. The DMS transmission equation included in PMD effect are analyzed by varitional method. From the analysis results, the characteristic of DMS influence of PMD is investigated. At last, the filter control the perturbation of PMD in high bit rate DMS transmission system is theoretical studied for the first time, the DMS system stability and timing jitter are studied and compared with linear system.The application of DMS theory is studied in chapter 6. Firstly, the foreign experimentations and trials on application of soliton communication are reviewed. Secondly, the three DMS transmission schemes are bring forward and its performances are also evaluated. The parameters of system of high speed and long distance DMS transmission are designed. In the last of chapter, system upgrading is considered on a secondly main ring network in Jiang Shu province, the numerical simulation is also conducted on this DMS transmission system.
