Microgastrinae is one of the largest subfamilies of Braconidae and one of the most important monophyletic group of parasitoids. It enjoys relatively high value of economics and scientifical research. Of the 45 subfamilies of Braconidae , this subfamily occupied a very conspicuous position within one and a half century from 1862 to present time. Many entomologists and experts in biological control field paid high attention to this subfamily. It has three remarkable features: Firstly the species is in richness and their distrubutions covers all over the world. There are 5 tribes, 56 genera and out of the 15000 braconid species recorded, the number of Microgastrinae species accounts for 1/10 species according to the knowm species published and 1/8晽1/4 species on the basis of estimation; Secondly all the species known are parasitoids of Lepidoptera, the largest order of insect pests in agriculture and forestry. Larva-parasitism, endoparasitism and koinobiont are their three common parasitic traits, most species of the subfamily, especially the solitaties, kill their hosts in lower instars or before overeat period, and the host ranges of some species are so narrow that they have more weight in biological control or IPM; Lastly these species are very valuable materials in science. For instance, since the polydnaviruses(PDV) and their roles in parasitic process had been discovered, the study on PDV became a new hot spot of entomological field and focused scientists' interest upon it because most of PDV were found in Microgastrinae, as well as the relationship between polydnaviruses and parasitoids was the only known case of obligate mutualism between eukaryotes and viruses. There are two Regions (Palaearctic Region and Oriental Region) in China that abound in microgastrine resource. After two years of study by myself, research on microgastrine classification of China have been made great progress on the basis of Professor You' s study since 1979 and summarizingresearch on microgastrine classification of China have been made great progress on the basis of Professor You' s study since 1979 and summarizing the work at home and abroad. The new progress and main contents are as follows:1. In China, it' s the first time to report the evolution of microgastrine classification and the Chinese history of research on this subfamily, including the three features of Microgastrinae above.2. This dissertation listed the most complete catalogue of microgastrine wasps of China for the first time, which contains 5 tribes, 21 genera and 178 species (excluding the new genus and species described in my dissertation) according to Mason ' s classification system. Some important parasitoids of main pests of agriculture and forestry in China were indicated. The key to genera of Microgastrinae in China was given.3.A new genus and eight new species(belonging to 4 genera separately) were described. One species was revised, they were:Hygroplitis nigrita Luo, sp. nov.Fornicia longiantenna Luo, sp. nov.Fornicia brachymetacarpa Luo, sp. nov.Fornicia macistigma Luo, sp. nov.Snellenius guizhouensis Luo, sp. nov.Snellenius fulvipennis Luo, sp. nov.Snellenius latigenus Luo, sp. nov.Diolcogaster chaoi (Luo et You, MS)syn. : Caracallatus chaoi Luo et You, 2003(MS)Chaoa Luo, gen. nov.Chaoa flavipes Luo, sp. nov.4. The method of numerial taxonomy (hierarchical cluster analysis) was used for the first time to deccribe the relationship between each taxon in this study and compared the result of cluster analysis with the result known of cladistic analysis at home and overseas. The resoult of hierarchical cluster analysis that utilized qualitative analysis (morphological taxa or character) and quantitative analysis(different parts ratio of body) was similar to the result of cladistic analysis at home and abroad, i.e. firstly It has two main branches in Microgastrinae:Cotesiini+Microplitini +Forniciini and Apantelini+Microgastrini, and Forniciini was situated between the two branches but closed to the Cotesiini, which proved the ra...
