The thesis presents an integrated interpretation mainly from aeromagnetic data cooperatedwith gravity, electrical, drilling and seismic data, and geological maps, using aeromagneticand gravity maps compiled by the author. The interpretation has been applied to oil and gasexploration in less-known frontier area in northeast China. The methods used for thisinterpretation include qualitative and quantitative processing of potential data, and integratedgeological inference. The thesis proposes the following two new and effective data processing methods used forthis interpretation:1. Preferential filtering modified and improved based on preferential continuation forpotential field separation.2. Estimation of depth to top of magnetized bodies from module of total gradient forsemi-quantitative interpretation of aeromagnetic anomalies. The thesis studies fault system, basement structures and division of structural units from theabove methods. Based on these studies prospective oil and gas areas in less-know frontierarea in northeast China conducted by SINOPEC has been evaluated, including the followingkey points:1. The depressions for focal exploration: Manghan depression and the others. The localstructures for focal exploration: Shaerhaolai structure in the Manghan depression and theothers.2. The previous prospective area(s) should be abandoned: Temotu area in the Erlian basinand the others.3. The area(s) should be registered extensively and immediately: Chagannuoer depressionin the Erlian basin.
