As is well known, Rydberg atom is an important quantum system to study quantum chaos. Rydberg atom in strong external fields is one of the most important issues in atomic physics. This research was performed aimed at the manifestation of barium core effect to the orbit dynamics, using scaled energy technique and closed orbit calculation. The main works are as follows:1. A procedure to cancel the motional Stark effect of scanning magnetic field experiment has been developed. Motional Stark effect was canceled actively to acquire pure magnetic field scaled energy spectra with optimized procedure, with which one can get a corresponding electric field to any magnetic field and atom with any velocity, rather than the former procedure with which one can get only one certain electric field corresponding to one magnetic field and atoms with some certain velocity at a time. To cancel motional Stark effect, a large range of TOF spectrum was recorded to get enough data to calculate the electric field with respect to any strength of magnetic field and any velocity of atomic beam.2. By means of scaled energy experiments in pure magnetic field, we figure out: (1) The core scattering effect of barium in magnetic field has a close relationship with main quantum number; (2) The recurrence spectra of Ba has almost same evolution process to H with respect to the scaled energy except two points: (a) Barium core has relatively strong core scattering effect and some of the orbits observed in our experiment were identified as inelastic scattering orbits;(b) Orbital actions of barium are a little larger than those of hydrogen; (3)Shadowing effect of Ba core is much weaker than that of Sr core and it will only manifest itself for snake orbits.3. By means of scaled energy spectra in electric field, we find out: (1)Ba core effect will express itself as shadowing effect; (2)After comparison with the former work on Sr in our group, the shadowing effect of Ba core in electric field was found to be much stronger than that of Sr core.(3)The core shadowing effect was found to be stronger for snake orbits, long period orbits, repetition orbits and unsymmetric orbits in electric field. (4) The core effect was confirmed to be more obvious in M =0 scaled energy experiment than that in | M |=1 scaled energy experiment. (5) The statement of orbital actions of barium are larger than the corresponding ones of hydrogen was confirmed.4. To study the double minimum potential well of Ba in crossed fields, spectra in crossed electric and magnetic fields were explored. We examined the evolution of barium spectra to the electric field under a magnetic field of 4.00000 Tesla. The exploring experiments to detect the signal of double minimum potential well were conducted.
