There developed four volcanic basins in Altay, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, which named Ashele, Chonghuer, Altay and Maizi. Good-sized deposits have been found in Ashele, Altay and Maizi basins but Chonghuer basin which is the main part of study area is always poor of discovery in metallognic prognosis. It might duo to the absence of geologic and mineral work, the lack of study, the faint of geologic metallogenetic background and nondirectional of metallogenetic work. With the systemic geological and metallogenetic work, a conclusion from this paper is presented as following:â‘ Most of geologists attached importance to the schist and gneiss developping in northern Altay, they discussed it with the different genesis including Precambrian base, the metamorphic Sinian-Cambrian of Caledonian or Variscan regional dynamic heat flow metamorphism. This paper founded for the first time the superposing model of the two epoch regional dynamic heat flow metamorphism (Caledonian and Variscan), solved the problems of strta ascription and metamorphic epoch in this middle-deep metamorphic rock. This progress promoted the research level of geologic evolution and regional metallogenetic theory in Altay area.â‘¡NE-SW tectonic directionis are dominant on the southern study area and transfer to N-S on the northwest part, this is a most important bases geologic problem in Altay area. From this paper, N-S tectonic directionis developed since Pre-Variscan, the former, the representation of the Ertix thrust. As the Ertix thrust expanded to the north and west, the prevenient N-S tectonic were destroyed gradually and remained illegibility mark in the northwest of study area. Moreover, with the tectonic adjusting under the NE-SW main compress stress, brand new N-S, NNW sub-faults are created. Two types of S-N tectonic have absolutely different ore-control features: regional N-S tectonic indicated the lack of succedent tectonic-hydrothermal superposing and disadvantage of mineraling; the other way round, the latter pertain to favored conditions becacus of evening tectonic-hydrothermal superposing. The undersatand of two types of N-S tectonic and its metamorphic attribute is another innovation of this paper. â‘¢A conclusion from our study is that Sinian-Cambrian Kanasi Group and Lower Devonian Kangbutiebao Formation both are the source of mineral, and the superimposition of two regional dynamic heat flow metamorphism in Caledonian and Variscan be the most important mineralizational factor, also the latter N-S, NNW sub-faults are the geologic evidences of mineraling hydrothermal superposing. According to the theory instruction, we summarized the new metamorphic model on study area.Based on the innovation mentioned front, this paper studied the metallogenetic potential on Chonghuer basin after excluding the disadvantageous factor of it, and forecasted the blind ore in the basin. Four metallogenetic prospecting areas are divided for further geological working.
